A genus Lathyrus are a sweet peas & vetchlings, flowering plants in the legume family Fabaceae. There are some 160 coinage of Lathyrus; it is indigen to temperate areas in two hemispheres & their range extends into mountainous area of Africa. There are annual and perennial species which may be climbing or even bushy.
A genus includes a garden sweet pea (Lathyrus odoratus) and a perennial everlasting pea (Lathyrus latifolius). Flowers on these cultivated mintage can be rose, red, maroon, pink, white, yellowness, purple or even blue & the select few come bicolour; it is as well fragrant, which makes the babies a super popular garden plant. Cultivated mintage come susceptible to fungal infections including downy and powdery mildew.
More coinage come grown for food, including L. sativus and L. cicera, & less usually Fifty. ochrus & L. clymenum. L. tuberosus is grown as a root vegetable for its starchy edible tuber.
A seeds of some Lathyrus metal money contain the toxic amino acid and if eaten inside big quantities might reason lathyrism, a good disease.
